English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL) in the Workplace

This program is structured so that employees learn limited English right in their own workplace.  We will teach your non and limited English speaking staff to speak the most commonly used phrases in your particular workplace, in English.

We know that the most commonly used words and phrases are those non English speakers are most likely to remember, repeat and recognize.   This is a stepping stone to increasing English proficiency.  We offer a 48-hour course targeted at non English speaking staff, and teach them to communicate more effectively, and to understand more readily what is being spoken to them.  This training is specifically tailored for each workplace, and designed to take common words and phrases used in the company and raise the level of English proficiency of non and limited English speaking staff.  The result will be higher productivity, improved morale and increased customer satisfaction.

SSL for Service and Emergency Responders
As our communities become more diverse, there is a greater need for first responders to more effectively communicate with those they serve, and they can begin by using simple words and phrases commonly spoken in the situations they face. We have created a curriculum to teach first responders to communicate in Spanish using words and phrases and to elicit non verbal responses that will help in their interactions with Spanish speakers. This course is designed to:

  • Teach the participant to elicit non verbal responses such as, “Point to where it hurts”; “Point to the man who hurt you”;  “Take a deep breath”;  “Shake your head ‘yes’ or ‘no’;  “Squeeze my hand if you understand.”
  • Create a safer environment for emergency responders and those in need
  • Create greater awareness of cultural differences enabling you to be more effective in carrying out your duties
