PROFILE
Private, entrepreneurial, non-profit workforce development agency dedicated to assisting all individuals reach their employment goals. ERI operates two One-Stop Career Centers offering free job search services open to all, builds community based partnerships to serve the hard-to-employ, provides grant administration services and is Title 1 Administrative Entity for Metro North.

Our goal as a workforce development organization is to provide paths to self-sufficiency through family-sustaining wages.

CURRENT PROGRAMS

  • Career Source, One-Stop Career Centers located in Cambridge and Everett, serving over 6,000 people and 115 employers a year. Services are free to the public and include access to an extensive job bank, workshops on career planning, and Internet job searches. Employers receive assistance in meeting their employment and training needs.
  • Workforce development partner for an extended career ladder initiative for direct health care workers administered by the VNA of Eastern Massachusetts.
  • Grant Administration manages workforce development monies and monitors qualities of services by contacted service agencies.
  • Health Professionals Training Institute provides training access to new workers and promotes professional advancement within the healthcare field.

HISTORY

  • 2001   Board of Directors approved a business plan creating a new Development Department to generate new workforce development programs through partnerships.
  • 1996   Awarded competitive bid from the Metro North Regional Workforce Investment Board to operate Career Source, One-Stop Career Centers in Cambridge and Everett.
  • 1983   City of Cambridge created ERI as the Service Delivery Agency for Metro North Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA). Managed employment and training grants for federal and state agencies.

RESOURCES

  • 55 employees with extensive experience as career specialists, case managers, job developers, placement specialists, workshop presenters, as well as program development, grant writing and grant coordination and administration. Career Source employees mirror the demographics of our customers: 45% are minorities and speak several languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Vietnamese.
  • Majority of senior management employed with ERI for more than six years for a total of 41 years with the organization.
  • Volunteer Board of Directors that meet monthly to set policy direction and provide fiscal oversight. Members are leaders in business, government, and the community.
